Toronto Fashion constantly creates opportunities to come together and contribute to a meaningful cause. From Fashion Cares, the annual AIDS fundraister, to Fashion Takes Action, which promotes sustainable style, the community finds ways to meld its love of glamour with a desire to benefit others. No surprise since fashion is a reflection of what's happening in the world around us.

Last night at the Roosevelt Room, Cosmopolitan TV presented Haute Couture for Haiti, a unique runway show benefitting Haitian relief. Local designers Aime by Monica Mei, David Dixon, Brandon R. Dwyer, Lucian Matis, Vawk by Sunny Fong, and Jessica Biffi showcased select looks from their SS10 collections, many of which were seen on the runway at LG Fashion Week. Eye-catching accessories by Micalla, Trudelle Laker, Franke, Lia Sophia, and Jewellery by Karen dripped off the models for an added dimension.

The penthouse at the Burroughs Building staged a stylish showcase last night of fabulous frocks donated for silent auction by designers and local celebrities. At The Frocktail Party, bartenders shook up blue cosmos while well-dressed guests bid on dream dresses by designers like Dolce and Gabbana, Greta Constantine, Betsey Johnson, and David Dixon. The flapper-style gown above was donated by Leah Miller, who wore the dress on So You Think You Can Dance. All proceeds went to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

ET Canada's Cheryl Hickey donated the gorgeous black lace Mandalay halter number. Sushi rolls and salmon lollipops kept the crowd from getting too tipsy on cocktails and after the bidding war ended, a DJ spun beats by Michael Jackson and Prince, keeping the "well-heeled" crowd moving.

Sexy ladies lit up the dance floor (left), and handbag designer Brook Alviano rocked a red dress which she constructed completely from vintage fabric. Ali Reid, in an art deco-inspired shimmer dress, helped organize the event.

Michelle Reagan and the Style Box's Gail McInnes looked sharp (left), while the F-List's resident style maven, Leesa Butler, looked fashionably fabulous as usual;

The Beauty Boutique pampered with hair and cosmetics makeovers (one guest averted an eyelash emergency); Peach Berserk founder and designer, Kingi Carpenter, showcased her own designs on herself and a friend. The red taffeta explosion with sheer sleeves and full skirt stood out like a pretty confection. Dashing Dev, wearing a chainmail veil, and beautiful Belinda, founding photog of Kamshuka (second from left), brought amazing attitude to the event.

Dixon's SS2010 collection at LG Fashion Week yesterday was big on yellow, always a key colour for Spring. A canary yellow tube dress with flower-appliqued skirt accompanied by a diamante collar stood out. Splashes of metallic wowed in a fringed 20s style shimmery tube dress, floor-length skirt and blue organza top. Tiered ruffles were highlighted in a misty blue dress, sunshine yellow top belted in black patent and paired with a black pencil skirt.

Tops with draping paired with peplum skirts kept with the trend, as did an assymetrical yellow gown which screamed glamour and drama. Dixon celebrates the soft side of the feminine and keeps it as pretty as possible. A beautiful collection which at times felt repetitive due to a series of similar looks.
